​Dr. PRIYANKA BASAK

​Priyanka earned her Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc) in Chemistry from the University of Calcutta, India, and her Master’s degree (M.Sc) in Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. She moved to the USA to pursue her doctoral studies in Chemistry at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. During her Ph.D., under the supervision of Prof. Michael J Maroney, she investigated the role of biologically relevant labile nickel complexes in the maturation of nickel dependent enzymes. In the Meloni lab, she is working on understanding the mechanisms of metal translocation through transmembrane metal transporters. Besides research, she enjoys nature photography, traveling to new places, and exploring new cuisines.​
